First lesson back.

In the first lesson today I had a few problems uploading the footage onto the computer. The lead for te cmaera and computer wouldn't work for the jvc camera and wouldn't let me capture the footage onto adobe premier. However, once I had changed cameras and put my tape into a different camera, I was able to capture the footage on adobe premier no problem. Once I had captured all the footage I looked back at the shots I took and started playing around with the section 0.26 - 0.31 and out together a sequence of shots for that section. Next lesson I hopefully will get my music video finished as I only have 3 more small sections to do.

Filming day completed.

The filming day is now completed and I feel that it went very well. I got everything I wanted to get and more as I decided to film each section about 3 or more times so I have a variety of shots to chose from if some bits of a particular shot doesn't work I ca always edit it together. I had a dilemma in the morning which reduced the time I had to capture all the footage I wanted due to the lack of battery power and broken charger. I still managed to capture everything just in time.

I also got a lot of still images on the image camera in various locations around the church area. The church grounds had a small smokey fire going, so I took a few shots of Lyndon in the smoke for effect to see if they work on the digi pack. I also took images of the church arch which I could edit, Lyndon in front of a stone wall, also in the forest and another sat in a tree branch. I also saw there was masses of snowdrop flowers at the location so I took some close ups of them and some long shots to make it seem like it is a whole field of white flowers. The images I took are great and interesting which I think will link with my music video which is most important. Overall, the day was very successful and I am very happy with all the motion shots and still shots I took. The motion shots are all on a tape which is in the video camera which I will be taking to sixth form tomorrow ready for our lesson. Also the still images are now on my memory stick to take in tomorrow and upload onto the computer.

Now I have everything I need for now, I can get on in lessons and finish my music video hopefully in this next week, therefore I can start on my digi pack images in the lessons afterwards.

Filming today.

Today is the day I am filming the rest of my music video. I have everything ready including:
-Music - To help Lyndon mime in time.
-Towels - So Lyndon and Rachel don't get muddy laying on the floor.
-Still image camera - To take still images of Lyndon for the digi pack.
-Video camera - To capture the footage for my music video.
-Storyboards - To help me remember which shots I need to capture.

However, as the charger isn't working for the video camera I will have to be careful with how much battery I use. I will have to turn the camera off in between shots so I don't waist the battery. It has half full battery so it should last me for today.

I am setting off to pick Lyndon up at 11:50am so I can get to Rachels for about 12:00pm this will enables us a few hours of filming time before it gets dark.

Contacting.

I have decided to film on Saturday for a few reasons. One being Saturday is the only day we can do it as one of us 3 are busy the other days and another reason is that I have the car that I drive on Saturday so it will be more comfortable and convenient to travel to the location, as I'm filming in the next village and from Rachels house it is a 10 minute walk to the actual filming location so would be much quicker by car. To contact Lyndon and Rachel I sent them a text saying:

"Hi, I am wanting to film the rest of my music video on Saturday 25th February, would you be available to film on that day? Thanks!"

I made the text informal as I know them both very well. Both Lyndon and Rachel replied with a 'yes' which means the filming day on Saturday will be going ahead.

Filming day.

I am hoping to do the filming day at the weekend. I am all prepared to film with all the equipment I need to film, but I just need a sunny day to film. Although this isn't a big issue as I don't have to use natural lighting, I can bring some large torches to help me with the lighting and spot lighting to highlight pieces in the frame. I will need to ask Lyndon and Rachel if they are available for one day at the weekend for a few hours to film my music video. I will contract them via text message as it is the quickest way of getting in touch with them both.

Last day.

Today was our last day at sixth form for a week so I made sure I had everything I need for over the week off to help me carry on with the work I need to do over next week. I have put all of my media work onto a memory stick so any work I need to do is at home for me to get on with. Also I have picked up a video camera, making sure I had with it the tape that I have used to capture all of the other footage and a camera charger. The equipment I need for the next week I have, so I have no worries about not getting anything done because I have forgot something.

Filming day.

As I, Lyndon and Rachel have a week off sixth form, I will have more time to film the rest of the footage I need to finish my music video. Whilst researching the weather from the BBC website I have found that the weather isn't looking very sunny up to Tuesday. I have informed Lyndon and Rachel about the decision to postpone the filming day until next week so we can possibly get a sunnier day to film as most of the footage I have captured before is in bright natural sunlight and I would like to capture footage the same to make sure it matches the rest of my music video.

Story boarding finished.

Now that I have finished the story boarding for the next filming day, it will be extremely benefitial for me and my cast members (Lyndon and Rachel) as it is very cold weather at the moment and I will be able to choose which shots I could do first and put them into an order of difficulty. I am thinking about changing the location of the section 0.40 - 1.01 as it was originally set on the cliff top, however, with much thought I have decided to film that section in the forest as I feel that it fits more into my music video as the rest of it is filmed in the forest so wouldn't really have continuity which I want to have in the music video. This will make the next filming day even easier as we will not have to change locations during the day. If those shots do not work which I highly doubt they wouldn't, I can always refilm them in the original location easily, so there is no problem at this time with the upcoming filming day.

Reusing shots.

In the section 0.26 - 0.40 I have been able to reuse a shot which I use later on in the music video. I reused the shot because it has the same lyrics at the same pace and at the same tone, so I thought it would be appropriate the reuse those shots instead of refilming it. The section I now need to film has gone from 0.26 - 0.40 to 0.26 - 0.31 which is a cut down by 9 seconds which is great and also fits in fantastic with my music video.

Replacing.

I am hoping to replace a bit of my music video with something completely new to improve the continuity of the music video. The section I wish to replace is 0.26 - 0.40 as it looks too disconnected fromt the rest of the music video. However, although the shots are good, it is really just the location that that section was filmed in which doesn't help my music video flow. As the rest of the music video is set outside and that section and only section was set indoors it doesn't make sense. So I will keep the camera shots the same and change the location to the forest we will be filming in on the next filming day, so it is also conveiniant.

Story boarding.

I am currently story boarding for the next filming day. I am diong this to be prepared and to use my time effectively. The story boards should decrese the amount of time wasted on the filming day, which will be ebneficial for me and Lyndon and Rachel as the weather is very cold at the moment so I wouldn't want them being uncomfortable.

Filming day planning.

The only days I am able to film the rest of my music video is Saturday or Sunday as the rest of the days me, Lyndon and Rachel are at sixth form. However, next week is half term so I have plenty of days to pick a sunny day to film the rest of the footage I need to finish my music video. I have been researching the weather for Saturday from the BBC website, however, they haven't got an accurate record of the weather yet but it does show that it will be cloudy but sunny during the day which is appropriate for filming.

I will check the weather again on Thursday to check if anything has changed on the report. In the mean time I will tell Lyndon and Rachel about the possible filming day on Saturday so they are well prepared. I will contact them via seeing them at sixth form today anbd let them know the situation.

To film.

I don't think I can do any more to my music video until I film the rest of the sections I need to capture. I have picked out the times within the song that I still need to capture and I have made a note of the times I need to film in minutes and seconds:

0.00 - 0.06
0.40 - 1.01
1.07 - 1.12
3.37 - 3.44

I would also like to replace 0.26 - 0.40 as I don't think it fits in well with continuity editing. I will have to think of a new section to replace it with and film that on the next filming day.

Once the snow has gone and I can pick a day which will be sunny and appropriate to film I will be able to film the rest of my music video. However, whilst I'm waiting for that day to come I will be capturing images and creating my digi pack.

Progress.

As I have now finished the majority of my music video, I am picking out the sections I still need to film. I have breifly worked out what shots I need and where to finish off the filming process. The day shouldn't take long as there isn't many shots I need to capture. However, with it been snowing heavily recently I have had to postpone organising a day to film which has held me back slightly with moving on to finish my music video. Instead of wasting time, I will be carrying on with the development of my digi pack images and I may be able to use the snow to my advantage.
