Website research.

I have researched two rock bands websites to help me understand what the typical forms and conventions are and to give me some ideas about what they feature.

Website images.

I am chosing some images which I have already taken of Lyndon to go in the Gallery page of the website. I am currently editing the images so they look professional to go on the website. I am hoping to get a range of images from mulitple camera angles and colours so the audience have a variety to look at. The images I am editing i know need to keep in the style of alternative rock which is dark colours and mysterious. I will make sure I avoid bright colours which will represent the wrong audience, so I can keep the artists audience happy.

Updating website.

Since I have made an account on webeden.co.uk I haven't updated it. Now I have almost finished with the digi pack I shall get on with the website. I don't have much experience with using the website so at the moment I shall be getting used to the functions and ways I can use it. Here is a link to Alex Steel's website: www.alexsteel.webeden.co.uk

Changing image.

Since reviewing the images for my digi pack I have realised my likes and dislikes towards the images. I really like the image the audience has chosen which is definitley going to be the back cover of the digi pack as the layout of the image will work great with the text. However, the front cover which I chose and edited has not come out like I wanted it to. I think there is too much editing and it doesn't look as simple as I hoped. I have edited some more images and I am going to get the audience to help towards the final decision for the front cover of the digi pack. Here is the orginal edited image I chose to be the front cover of the digi pack:
Here is another image I chose and edited to possible the front cover of the digi pack:

Edited images.

The feedback from the questionnaire came back positive and reasuring that I have an overall shot which I can use. I asked 20 members of the public and the majority of the votes go to this image: Image of lyndon with match!!! I have edited that chosen image from the audience and edited a second image which I think would link well with the chosen image on the digi pack. I have made the two images link with each other to make a complete digi pack cover.
The first image I edited, I noticed that the two dominant colors are black and orange. Therefore, I chose an image with the orange netting as the background to try and link the two together. Here are the final images drafted for the digi pack cover.

Audience feedback.

I sent out this questionnaire to 20 people to help me choose images which the audience will find appealing to put on the digi pack.

Photo shoot analysis.

The photo shoot for day is now complete. I am happy with the result of images I have taken and have taken a vast amount to make sure I have plenty to choose from. Unfortunately not everything went to plan; the shadow effects didn't work too well as the lighting I had wasn't strong enough to carry the shadows. However, I managed to improvise by doing other things with the images as demonstrated in the images below.

Photo shoot day tomorrow.

I have had confirmation from Lyndon that he is going to come to my house tomorrow for the photo shoot.

I have everything I need ready for tomorrows photo shoot.
The camera is on charge so it will be ready to use tomorrow.
I have found materials to create shadow effects for the images. These include a garden chair, and a wired fence.
The torches are all ready and set out for use tomorrow in case I need to use artificial lighting.

I have also asked my mum to be with us in case I need help with holding the materials and the torches. She may not be needed but she will be there just in case I need an extra pair of hands.

Planning photo shoot day.

I have researched the weather for Saturday 14th April and it doesn't look like it is going to be too bright for the photos I want to take. I have found the weather guide from 'www.bbc.co.uk/weather'. This website I find reliable and I will check this website again closer to the photo shoot day to see if the weather changes from now and then.
Here is an image taken from the website which gives me a rough guide on the weather for this Saturday.

What I need to do -
- I am going to collect items which I think will create interesting shadow effects for the images.
- I will make sure I have plenty of artificial lighting to enhance the natural lighting.
- I will have the camera charged and ready to use before Lyndon comes on the day.

Photo shoot.

I am planning a photo shoot for Saturday 14th April 2012. I am going to contact Lyndon via text message as it is the fastest way I know to contact him. The message which I am about to send to Lyndon reads:

"Hi Lyndon, are you available for a few hours this Saturday to take some photos of you for my digi pack images? Thanks!"

The text message is informal so it makes Lyndon feel more comfortable. He has now confirmed that he is available this Saturday so I can go ahead a plan everything I need for the day.

Edited image.

I have used the website 'picnik.com' to edit an image which I have previously taken. I have become used to the tools it provides and found that it is very easy to use. Becoming familiar with this website has gave me confidence that the final image for the digi pack will be creative, interesting and unique whilst linking the image together with the music video and website.

Before editing

After editing
The image below is the image I have just edited and I am very pleased with the outcome. This edited image is definitley one of the image I will possibly use for the front cover of the digi pack.

Editing images.

I have just found a website 'picnik.com' where I can edit my images for free. This is ideal for creating an interesting image through the editing process. With editing I can highlight the areas in the image which I feel the need to be standing out and from this I can create unique digi pack images.

To practise using this website I am going to use a current image that I have taken of Lyndon from one of the previous photo shoots. I have choosen an image of Lyndon where his face is straight to camera looking directly at it. This way I will be able to crop the image so it becomes a close up of Lyndon which I want for the front cover of the digi pack. The image I have choosen (below) is a great one to manipulate through this editing programme as his face is perfect for the connection.

Potential digi pack images.

I would like to experiment using multiple fabrics and hopefully create an interesting, unique image. I am going to collect some materials which I think could create interesting shadows and see what the shadows look like. However, with not having much sun in this next week, I am going to struggle getting natural bright light. I want to use this time effectively, therefore I am going to use artificial light to test out the shadows and see if that lighting works well for the final images.

Inspiration.

After watching a television programme 'America's next top model' I have taken some ideas from there as to what can make the images for my digi pack look interesting. On the programme they did a photo shoot using shadow effects across the models to create interesting images. They used all types of materials to create the shadows, including a doily table clothe, a piece of plastic with small holes in, a part of a wooden fence and more.
This shadow effect can be done by using netting, which will be one of the materials I will experiment with. I think this type of shadow could possibly be carried to the back of the digi pack cover also.

I think this type of shadow is too feminine for the images I want to capture.

I like this shadow and would like to find something which can create similar shadows to this to try it out in an image, as I think this could look really effective.

This shadow is my favorite out of the above images as it is strong, masculine and very interesting. If I find a material which can create a similar shadow effect I will definitely use it in trying to capture a great image for my digi pack.

The above images have inspired me to play around with lighting and create interesting effects using lighting and the surroundings.
